Using Layout Regions in Net Objects Fusion to Create a Menu Box with Round Corners

Description:

A Layout Region with three image slices is all it takes to make the menu box at right.

Tutorial:

1. Here are 3 image slices I created in Photoshop™ and Image Ready. You can use your favorite graphics editor to make your own or use these 3 tutorial JPEGs.

2. Select the Layout Region tool from your tool bar.  If you don't see it, it's hiding under the Table tool.

3. Place a Layout Region on your page and on the Layout Region Properties box, select the 2nd tab and choose the background image for your menu box.
4. Size your Layout Region to the same width as your background image. Don't worry about height at this point as this will be determined by your content.

5. Place the top image slice inside your Layout Region.
6. Place the bottom image slice either inside your Layout Region or directly below the region. If using layout region inside a table cell, place all images inside the layout regions.
7. Add a text box to your layout region. Type your list, highlight text and hit Link on the Text Properties Box.

8. Size your completed Layout Region height to match that of your content.
9. Local Publish and check your page in 2 or 3 major browsers.  If you have trouble with artifacts appearing in one or more browsers, place a clearpixel or transparent gif sized to fit in the space above your bottom image slice, and test the page again.
10. You're not limited to using layout regions in tables or page layouts. You can also use them in your master borders for some interesting design effects.  Play around with it and see what works best for you.
